I decided not to write a blog post this week. I’m chasing a few squirrel trails and don’t feel something calling to be written about. I do have some things for you to explore if you want.

For those of you who were intrigued by the Scapegoating sermon Sunday night, there is a fascinating CBC Ideas series about Scapegoating, culture, and the Bible which I learned a lot from in the past and which helped shape that sermon. You can download it now (not order the cassettes like I had to do years ago) and listen to it in your tractor or truck or car or home or while walking: http://www.cbc.ca/ideas/episodes/2011/02/28/the-scapgoat-rene-girards-anthropology-of-violence-and-religion/

Also, for those who were pleasantly stretched by an aside I mentioned on Sunday morning — namely the idea that Jesus was not following a script but was constantly in fellowship with the Father for guidance in what needed to happen next — my main sources for that seem to come from John 5 and Philippians 2:1-8. I’m thinking of writing a new sermon on that for Sunday night, which is another reason I’m not thinking much about a blog post.
